Christmas Gift Donations 2020 – The Pyjama Foundation

15.12.2020

It’s that time of the year again: the long-awaited holiday period is right around the corner and the season of giving is upon us once again.

Each year the team at Advanced Group donate generously to The Pyjama Foundation, so that vulnerable children in their program have a joyous and wonderful Christmas just as they deserve.

Over the past 10 years, the number of children in out-of-home care has risen significantly, with now more than 48,000 children in foster care in Australia. According to The Australian Institute of Family Studies, young children up to 18 years are removed from their original homes when they are unable to live with their families, often due to child abuse, trauma and neglect, resulting in poor health and attachments.

Foster carers support the emotional and social needs of children. More often than not further support is required to meet the literacy and educational needs of children in care. As a result, The Pyjama Foundation aims to close this gap of disadvantage by connecting children in care with supportive adult mentors to empower them and to increase their learning outcomes.

It’s become an annual tradition for the team to get involved and give-back to the community by digging deep and buying a range of gifts for children between 0-18 years of age who are involved in the program. Everyone loves to get involved, either by helping to make a shopping list, hitting the shops or taking part in the 2 day ‘wrapathon’ before delivery is made to the foundation.

Each year the foundation hosts parties when they hand out hundreds of Christmas presents for children who may have unhappy memories of this time of year. Whilst they haven’t been able to host parties this year, they have still welcomed our gifts which have been handed out to children by their very own Pyjama angels

This year may have been a tough one, but there is no better feeling than ending it on a high and helping to brighten the lives of children in care in NSW during the festive season.

Well done team !
